Ripping music from Youtube is a rookie move, and here’s a few reasons why:
1). Poor Sound Quality
It is well known but often ignored that the quality of tracks ripped from YouTube is poor. You may not hear it from your laptop speakers at home but the audience will hear it from the sound system. Poor audio quality seriously distracts and takes away from a performance and you won’t want to fall victim to that.

Ripping audio from YouTube is a violation of the site’s Terms of Service and federal law, if the content is copyrighted. Because of the illegal nature of most YouTube ripping sites and software you are putting your equipment at risk for viruses and other malware. It’s not worth it. Coming back to sound quality, switching between ripped tracks and quality tracks is painful for your audience. This is where it will be most obvious that the track came from YouTube. Don’t embarrass yourself with this easily avoidable mistake.
4). It’s a Pain-in-the-Ass
This reason hits home with most DJs because your time is valuable. It is a pain to search for music on YouTube, copy the link, paste it into some other spammy, ad-cluttered site, only to have to then take the time to manually enter tag data in your DJ software for the track. Hell no. Stop it.
